Area of Ministry

As an Administrative Assistant I am filling several very different roles. I do general office work such as assisting in writing and proofing bulletin articles and filling in at the reception desk as needed. As an unofficial assistant to the Program Staff I handle a lot of clerical work for the Director of Children's Ministries and the Youth Minister. I also do all of the clerical work associated with our casual service, The Well, and coordinate the set-up of that worship space each week.

AREAs of Service

At Central, I currently serve as the assistant to Pete Ludlow, the Music Director for The Well. I am also involved in coordinating our mission emphasis, Digging Deeper, which features monthly speakers from local social service agencies and organizations, as well as Spring and Fall Community Workdays when our congregation leaves directly from our worship service to serve in our community. I also am often asked to sing at weddings and funerals and my husband, Johnny, and I often sing at local churches for such things as revivals and homecoming events.

Previous Lines of Work

I have served (briefly!) as an office manager for a medical practice, was one of 2 administrative assistants for Celanese Trucking Division in Rock Hill, SC, for nearly 3 years, and for 6 years served as an administrative assistant at a Florence law firm. I am a retired elementary school teacher, having spent 4 years as a classroom teacher and 24 years as an elementary music teacher (my last 21 years at Royall Elementary in Florence). For 12 years I was the Director of Children's Choirs here at Central. In the summer of 2014 I took on the challenge of helping to design and lead Central's casual worship service, The Well, and served as Director of The Well from its beginning through October 2019, when I felt it was time for me to at least partially retire. I have spent a great deal of time on stage and off at the Florence Little Theatre and Florence's former Encore Theatre, am a former member of Masterworks Choir, and am currently a member of the local bluegrass band, Borrowed Time.
