Join us Wednesday, January 4 at 6:15 PM as Mary Louise Nagata, Jennifer Brown Deudkoontod and Ann Rodgers Chandler perform in our Sanctuary. The program includes the concerto for viola and clarinet by Max Bruch, duo for viola and clarinet by Rebecca Clarke, Wakamizu by Michio Miyagi performed on clarinet and koto, and finally Rokudan by Yoshizawa Kengyo on koto.
Nagata, a Francis Marion University history professor with a specialty in Japanese history, says the koto is a cross between a harp and a zither. It is six feet long, has 13 strings and is played on the floor.
