Blessing of the Backpacks

On Sunday, July 31 we will be holding our annual Blessing of the Backpacks during all three worship services. All of our students are invited to bring their backpacks to the altar for a special blessing. As in years past, we are asking that you consider purchasing an additional backpack and/or school supplies to be donated to local children. Our donations this year will go to our Briggs Buddies (Briggs Elementary is Central’s partner school) and to Helping Florence Flourish, who have identified several Hispanic families in the Florence area who need assistance with school supplies. Collection boxes are available in The Well and in The Commons for those of you who may not have school-aged children but would like to be a part of this mission opportunity. The following supplies are needed: bookbags, #2 pencils, spiral notebooks, composition books, erasers, boxes of crayons, looseleaf paper, plastic 3-pronged folders, glue sticks, EXPO markers, colored pencils, rulers, 1-inch binders, antibacterial wipes, hand sanitizer, and deodorant for boys and girls (Briggs has a supply cabinet for students and deodorant is needed).
