Don’t miss the annual Christmas concerts by the Masterworks Choir. You will have two opportunities to hear the choir during this Christmas season. The first concert is Saturday, December 10 at 4:00 pm. This performance will highlight the Masterworks Children’s Choir singing such familiar carols as The First Noel, Pat-a-Pan, and Do You Hear What I Hear?.
The second performance is Sunday, December 11 at 4:00 pm. The concerts this year will feature two Baroque works – the exuberant Magnificat by Johann Sebastian Bach and the beautiful, intimate Midnight Mass for Christmas by French composer Marc-Antoine Charpentier.
Both performances will be held at Central United Methodist Church in downtown Florence and there is no admission charge. The concerts will feature orchestra and local soloists Dana Spencer, Emily Lake, Tara McCormick, Shaw Thompson, Paul Zwiers, Nick Townsend, Kevin McCormick, and Jim Fincher.
The 2022 – 2023 season of Masterworks celebrates the 10th anniversary of Music Director Dr. Will Carswell. Reflecting on his time as conductor of Masterworks Carswell states, “Never have I been prouder of the Masterworks Choirs. We continue to find creative ways to fulfill our mission of being involved in the community through performance, outreach, and education. The future is exciting for this organization!”
